–2 pounds grass fed beef.
–½ onion.
–1 small green pepper chopped—good source of vitamin C so it feeds the glands.
–2/3 cup bread crumbs (if you are gluten intolerant Gillian’s Bread Crumbs are an excellent substitute).
–2 eggs
–1 tsp ground thyme
–¼ tsp Real Salt
–1/8 tsp black pepper
–1 cup tomato ketchup
•Directions:
–Preheat oven to 325 degrees.  Add all the ingredients to a large bowl.  Mix with your hands until all the ingredients are thoroughly combined.  The mixture should feel slightly sticky.  Add the mixture to a baking pan with 2-inch sides and form into a loaf.  Make an indention longitudinally along the top of the loaf.  Fill this with additional tomato ketchup.  Bake for about 1.25 hours.  By Keith Tindall from White Egret Farm.
Ingredients:
•1 pound Wild caught shrimp.
•1 to 1.5 pounds organic asparagus.
•Organic garlic salt to taste
•Black pepper
•Locatelli Pecorino Romano Cheese (optional)
•Olive oil enough to coat
Directions:
•Wash asparagus and use bending technique to break off end.  Coat asparagus in olive oil and then sprinkle lightly with garlic salt and a small amount of black pepper (black pepper can help to improve your digestion and absorption).  Toss all ingredients together then grill until the asparagus is al dente about 5 minutes.  Boil shrimp until pink.  When complete simply toss all ingredients together and then top with a little cheese or just add a bit more garlic salt.
You can also saute the asparagus over medium heat if that is easier for you.  If you choose this option I like to saute fresh organic garlic with the asparagus and then add the cooked shrimp followed by REAL SALT.  This is one of the best salts for you.  I only know of one distributor and we managed to get a bunch at our office.  Call (770) 304-1500 and we can get you a bottle.  I think they are only about $4 for a bottle, maybe less maybe more.
Enjoy!!!!
Dr. Rob : -)

My family and I eat these in place of potato chips.  My kids actually really enjoy them.

Ingredients:
  • Kale
  • Real Salt (It’s loaded with energy providing minerals and is a step above sea salt.  It’s real salt from the Earth. We sell it in the office for about $8 a bottle.)
You can use other seasonings such as garlic salt, cayenne pepper, sesame oil and ginger in addition to what is listed below.
Also, from December 19th through until the 30th we are allowing your friends and family to receive a new patient exam and c0nsultation for ONLY $29.  This is normally between $125 and $175 so if you know someone that needs help please send them our way.  This is the only time of year we will offer something like this.
Directions:  Coat pan in olive oil.  Remove leaves away from center stem and tear off pieces of Kale Leaf about the size slightly bigger than a silver dollar or about the size of a large potato chip.  Rub or spray olive oil into kale.  Bake for about 15 minutes on 300.  Salt to taste.  Make sure to really rub the olive oil into the leaves.  We use the organic spray olive oil because it’s faster.  Also, the chips should be crisp so sometimes it can take longer than 15 minutes.  Just make sure to keep an eye on them.
Kale has many amazing health giving properties.  Enjoy!!!

These super healthy brownies are made with coconut flour.

Traditional white flour vs. coconut flour.

Traditional Flour:

  • Bleached.  This is a process where usually benzoyl peroxide is used to remove healthy antioxidants from the grain. If benzoyl peroxide sounds familiar to you it is because it is in popular topical acne medication.  YUCK!  The European Union, Canada, China and other countries have BANNED the use of benzoyl peroxide and other peroxide in flour due to health concerns.
  • Stripped of nutrition in the refinement process.  That’s right!  Just about every nutrient that God put in that grain is removed by man to improve shelf life.  Silly Humans!
  • Bleached wheat can be very hard on the digestive tract especially if someone is missing the enzymes to break down wheat.

Coconut Flour:

  • Supports the reduction of harmful bacteria in the body.
  • Supports the reduction of harmful fungi in the body.
  • Easy on the liver and digestive tract to digest.
  • The fiber in coconut flour promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the GI tract.
  • Good for the Immune System

SIDE NOTE:  Any friends or family that you have that need help may come into the office between the dates of December 19th and December 29th and receive a FREE Consultation and a Holistic New Patient Exam for ONLY $29. Exams are normally between $125 and $175 depending on complexity of exam needed. Please bring your friends and family that need help!  This is a great holiday ONLY promotion to extend help during this time of year.

Verdict: Coconut flour beats the heck out of traditional white flour in the brownie baking department as far as I’m concerned.

Here’s the recipe for these great brownies.  You can make them over the holidays for the entire family to enjoy.

  • 1/2 cup coconut flour. (Only 6 grams of fiber, 3 grams carbs, 3 grams protein, 2.5 grams fat per serving).
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 Tablespoons ground flax or chia (optional, you can add this for extra nutrition or you can add 2 tablespoons of organic, raw, shredded coconut)
  • 5 eggs
  • 8 dates
  • ¾  tsp vanilla
  • 1 and ¾ cup unsweetened chocolate almond milk
  • Pour the dates in the blender and blend until they are in small pieces.  Then add all the liquid items together, eggs, the vanilla, almond milk…… Blend these all together.
  • Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix.  You should have a thick but pourable batter.  If it is still too think just add additional almond milk.
  • Grease your 8X8 baking pain with coconut oil and pour the above mixture in the pan.
  • Bake on 350 for about 20 minutes or until you can stick a toothpick in the brownies and it comes out dry.  Some ovens cook a bit faster so keep an eye on it around the 15 minute mark.

ENJOY!!!

Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts or chopped unsweetened chocolate.

Optional:  you can add the following to increase sweetness:

  • more dates
  • 10 to 20 drops of chocolate Stevia (you can avoid the dates and sugar all together and just use the Chocolate Stevia if you’d like.  We sell this at the office.)
  • ¼ cup of Sugar in the Raw

Please don’t forget: Any friends or family that you have that need help, may come into the office between the dates of December 19th and December 29th and receive a FREE Consultation and a Holistic New Patient Exam for ONLY $29.  Exams are normally between $125 and $175 depending on complexity of exam needed.

Happy Holidays!!!

Dr. Rob :)

The last event was fantastic.  I’m very proud of my 11 year old daughter for the great job she did with the Alfalfa Chicken Ceasar Salad.  Watch this very short video to see some fun and funny clips of the Extravaganza.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4vnhwVGEzE

Here are some of the recipes from the last two workshops.  I could not print all of them as 2 I have not received the OK to reproduce as of yet.  Here are the ones I have.
Also, if you suffer or know someone that suffers from Sinus Problems, has a Cold or Allergies please have them check out my new technique called SCAT (sinus cold and allergy technique).  I’m the inventor of the technique.  You can watch a clip by clicking on this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVPvmeL-jgM
December 3rd is the next Cooking for your Body Type event with ALL NEW RECIPES!!!
Possibly even a desert!  Baking for your Body Type :)
Easy Sesame Ginger Broccoli Slaw
This recipe is great for the Liver Body Type.  And was taught at the last Eating for Your Body Type Workshop.  We had 58 people at the event and had to turn two away as we were to full, however, we all enjoyed some great slaw!!!  :-)
–¼ cup rice vinegar
–2 tbsp soy sauce
–1 tbsp Dijon mustard
–1 tbsp raw honey
–1 tbsp chopped garlic
–2 tbsp minced or grated ginger
–Sea salt, to taste
–¼ cup sesame oil
–¼ cup safflower oil

Dr. Rob’s Italian Red, White and Green
The Italian colors are Red, White and Green and this dish has health promoting benefits of Kale (green), Red (Kidney Beans), White (Garbanzo Beans and Garlic).
–5 Large Kale Leaves
–2 Cloves of Garlic—anti bacterial, lowers cholesterol
–3 Sprigs of Fresh Parsley—chemo protective, activates glutathione
–Extra Virgin Olive oil, enough to coat the pan and a little more—anti-inflammatory, cardio-protective
–1/4 cup each of Kidney and Garbanzo Beans—high fiber, decrease chance of heart disease, high in manganese and magnesium
-Garlic salt to taste

Add olive oil and heat on medium to medium high heat.  If the range is too hot when you cook with the EVOO you will create free radicals in the oil and you will lose the health benefit.  Finely chop the garlic and add to the oil.  Make sure not to burn the garlic.  Just saute for a minute or so then add your Kale.  Saute the Kale (yes with a capital “K” because it’s that good for you) until it is al dente, which literally means, “to the tooth” in Italian.  It is a texture that is kind of soft but still has a crunch to it.  Add the beans and saute for another couple of minutes.  Finally, stir in garlic salt and copped parsley to taste.

Don’t forget the SCAT technique…… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVPvmeL-jgM
Chicken Alfalfa Caesar Salad
I grew up watching my dad make traditional Caesar Salad and remember how great it tasted.  I thought my daughter how to make this and she is now the Caesar Salad Expert in our household.  I put a spin on this recipe to make it healthier for the Thyroid patient.  This can be make with shrimp in place of the chicken.
–1 to 2 tsp anchovy paste depending on taste
–1 to 2 cloves of garlic per head of lettuce
–1/2 tsp of fresh lemon juice
–1 egg yolk per head of lettuce-iodine
–Approximately 2 to 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.  You can add more if you’d like.
–Alfalfa sprouts, enough to cover you palm and no more-iodine
–1 heads Romaine lettuce
–Parmesan cheese–enough to cover the top of the salad
–Chicken about 1 small breast per head
Take the garlic and press it and add it to a large wooden salad bowl.  Next add the anchovy paste and smash the paste and garlic together with the back of a wooden spoon until the actual pieces of garlic are almost invisible.  Next add only the yolk of one egg.  Of course i have to warn you of the dangers of eating raw food and raw eggs can contain salmonella so use them at your own risk.  Mix egg and the garlic and anchovy paste together until it forms it’s own paste and while stirring quickly, add in the EVOO.  Add the lettuce, chicken and sprouts next and mix all ingredients well.  Cover with the cheese and some people like the fresh cracked pepper on top…… I would fall into the category of some people.  Buon Appetito!!!
OK last reminder…..SCAT….http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVPvmeL-jgM
Zuppa Toscana from Olive Garden
About This Recipe: “This is a clone of the Olive Garden Zuppa Toscana. Tried and true, approved by former Olive Garden Chefs.”  I found this online and have made it a bit more healthy by changing some of the ingredients.  It changes the taste a bit as well but most love it.  This is a wonderful adrenal/ovary meal.
–Ingredients :
–1 lb Italian TURKEY sausage ( I like mild sausage)
-1 large red potato and 4 small purple splendor potatoes, sliced in half, and then in 1/4 inch slices,
– 1 large yellow onion, chopped
–1/4 cup bacon bits.  Get the Apple Gate Farms Turkey bacon and brown this in a pan and use it for the bacon bits.
–2 garlic cloves, minced
–2 to 4 cups kale or 2 to 4  cups Swiss chard, chopped…..I like lots and lots of this stuff.  Great health benefits to both foods.
–2 (8 ounce) cans chicken broth
–1 quart water
–A splash of half and half, just enough to make the soup a slight cream color
–Chop or slice uncooked sausage into small pieces. Brown sausage in your soup pot.  Add chicken broth and water to pot and stir.  Place onions, potatoes, and garlic in pot.  Cook on medium heat until potatoes are done.  Salt and pepper to taste.
Enjoy your meals and SCAT….  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVPvmeL-jgM

Here’s what occurring:

  • The FDA’s new Draft Guidance on New Dietary Ingredients could make it impossible for you to purchase some of your favorite dietary supplements.

  • The FDA will require current supplement manufactures to comply with potentially very expensive studies regarding the safety of the supplements using dosages that most people would never consider taking.  It is possible that this could cause supplement manufacturing companies to go out of business as they could not afford to comply with such expensive ”guidelines.”  The pharmaceutical companies would then be the only manufacturers of supplements in America.

  • DSHEA is a law passed in 1994 that classifies supplements as foods.  The FDA’s guidelines are attempting to classify them as “food additives.”  Food additives are substances that in normal amounts would be dangerous to consume.  Accordingly, the FDA makes sure only very small amounts of the food additive or amounts of the food additive incapable of affecting the biology of a person are in your food.  If nutritional supplements were classified as “food additives” then we’d only be able to have amounts that were incapable of affecting our biology.  The whole purpose of a supplement is to have  positive affect on our biology.

Take action now!  Defend your right to use supplements by clicking on the below link and contacting your congressmen.

Cottage cheese skin, orange peel butt, hail damage, I’ve heard it all.  There are many descriptive albeit non-flattering names for this condition.  Most of the people that I’ve talked to that have cellulite, find it unattractive and frankly gross.  It can affect the person’s self confidence, especially when in a bathing suit or sitting in shorts with the legs crossed.

I’ve heard of people doing all sorts of things to try and get rid of cellulite.  There are people that go to Medical Spas to try and get the cellulite “massaged” off their body with different devices and some choose to surgically remove it.  You can lose weight by eating right but can you lose cellulite without these costly and invasive procedures?

The answer is YES you can REDUCE the amount of CELLULITE on your body through diet alone.

We all have a layer of fat under our skin that acts like an insulator, which helps us maintain or body temperature.  Seals and blubber whales use this layer of fat to keep themselves warm in the Arctic waters, thank the good Lord we don’t have as much fat as they do.  There is a type of tissue called connective tissue that keeps this layer of fat separate from the skin.  (To give you a visual, the layers would go, skin on top, connective tissue in the middle and fat on the bottom).  When people are malnourished, missing vital proteins, vitamins and other natural substances, the connective tissue separating the fat from the skin can become weak.  When the connective tissue weakens, tiny pieces of fat break through the connective tissue and then we have our lovely cottage cheese appearance called cellulite.

There is a system I now use in my clinic that was originally developed by an MD/PhD.  This system has been shown to be clinically effective in reducing cellulite and body fat.  This doctor found that by eating a very exact ration of protein to fats to carbohydrates a person would reduce the amount of cellulite on their body and lose between 3 to 7 pounds each week.

It is one of the only eating programs I know of that has been clinically effective at reducing cellulite.  His program is an effective and healthy means of losing 3 to 7 pounds each week and reducing cellulite.    I’ve had patients tell me everything from, their energy has improved, their skin is smoother and much healthier in appearance………

I’m more than happy to provide you with more information on his program, I just didn’t want to put it all in a blog, it would take up too much space.  Just email me directly at dr.rob@alternacareinc.com or just post a comment under this blog and I can shoot you a quick email with all the info you need so you can start getting the weight and cellulite off your body.

Do well!!

SWS or Stubborn Weight Loss Syndrome

You’ve tried improving your eating, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Atkins, the Zone Diet, counting calories and every other diet under the sun.  You’ve tried weight lifting, walking until your shoes have worn through but still, if you even look at a picture of cheesecake you’ll gain 5 pounds and the weight, despite everything you do, just won’t come off and stay off.  This my friend I call SWS or Stubborn Weight Loss Syndrome.

SWS is extremely frustrating because it violates logical thinking.  Here’s logical thinking, “If I reduce my calories I’ll loose weight.”  Sounds logical, let’s see, if that’s always correct…..BLAAAAMMM.  WRONG ANSWER!

See, all reducing your calories or exercising ever did was cause the glands in your body to make special hormones that cause your body to burn fat for energy.  After all, that’s what you are after; to burn your fat for energy and as a result, lose weight. However, what if your glands are broken?   Meaning, what if they can’t make the right amount of fat burning hormone any more.  In this case it doesn’t matter how much you diet or exercise you can’t lose the weight.  Why?  Because your glands are broken.  It’s the gland that makes the fat burning hormone.  If it doesn’t work everything else you do will have only a minor result.

There are different ways to eat for different glandular problems that will help to support the healing of the gland and losing of unwanted fat.  There is one particular way to eat, though that can be very effective for a large number of people.  From my recent experience I’ve found there is one way to eat where the average person can lose between 3 to 7 pounds of body fat each and every week.

The way this works is to target the organ/gland that most Americans theoretically have a problem with and that is the pancreas.  Americans in general eat too many carbohydrates.  Carbohydrates turn to sugar in the blood and cause the pancreas to make the hormone insulin.  Insulin is the hormone that lowers blood sugar which is good.  Nobody wants to have high blood sugar and slip into a comma.  However, when insulin is overproduced for too long a period of time, like 20 years or 40 years worth of American eating, you get too much insulin in the blood.  Problem?  YES!  Insulin is a fat storing hormone.  In fact, insulin is one of the most powerful fat storing hormones you have.  A system was developed by an MD/PhD Dr. Chanh and he found if a person ate a certain ratio of carbohydrates, proteins and fat they can lose 3 to 7 pounds of body fat each and ever week.  I’ve used this system now with close to 60 patients and if they have a history of eating carbs in excess this system can really help them.  It’s pretty rewarding as a doc to see 3 to 7 pounds of body fat fall off a person who in the past, could never get the weight off their fram.  Pretty rewarding indeed.

If you’d like more information on how to eat and how to do this program just respond to this post or shoot me an email.

In Health,

Dr. Rob

About 25 years ago, the French Olympic coaches needed a way for their athletes to lose body fat fairly quickly and yet preserve muscle. They needed quick fat loss but they didn’t want their athletes to lose any muscle.  They turned to MD, PhD, Tran Tien Chanh.  In his research, Dr. Chanh found that hormones are much more powerful than calories when it comes to losing fat. Don’t believe him?  Did you ever see a skinny person eat all kinds of junk food and not gain a pound?  Man, I don’t like those people very much :-)   In contrast, have you ever known someone that did everything right?  They ate perfectly, exercised perfectly but losing weight was a total struggle and had problems keeping it off as well.

To continue, Dr. Chanh looked closely at the hormone system and he found one of the most powerful of these hormones was insulin because of its incredible power to cause the body to store fat.  In addition, Dr. Chanh found that it was nearly impossible to burn fat in the presence of too much insulin.   Insulin, could not only make you fat but stop you from losing fat altogether.

So the culprit was insulin.  He continued his research and found if a person ate an exact ratio of carbohydrates, proteins and fats they would be able to loss 3 to 7 pounds of body fat each week.  I’ve used Dr. Chanh’s ratios with about 40 patients so far and found it to be very effective.   Our own Front Desk Receptionist Chuck Landrum, has lost 17 pounds in 3 weeks using Dr. Chanh’s ratios.  INCREDIBLE!!

Chuck is our Front Desk Receptionist and has lost 17 pounds in 3 weeks using the below system.

Now, this ratio of proteins to carbs to fats is very hard to do in real life.  Meaning, it’s not very practical.  Few of us have the time to prepare the foods exactly right.  If we had live in chefs then maybe we could find the time to prepare the food with the correct ratio.  So what Dr. Chanh did for the average, non-Olympic Athlete Movie Star type person like you and I, was to create prepackaged, tasty foods in this exact ratio.  This made Dr. Chanh’s system completely workable and helped the average person drop between 3 to 7 pounds of body fat each week.

The way the system works is you would eat 3 prepackaged meals each day and 1 of your own meals.  These meals travel very well.  Your meals are not expensive at all.  Really, all you are doing is replacing what you would normally spend on food and spending it on this correct ratio  food.  You simply stop by the office to pick up your food or we just  ship the food to your house.   This is NOT a Jenny Craig or a NutriSystem type of program. This system is specifically created to affect your hormones and causes the average person to lose between 3 to 7 pounds of body fat each week. Once your weight goal has been reached, you can now, step by step, go into a maintenance phase.  In maintenance, it is all about food combinations, which we will get into later….and yes you can absolutely keep the weight off.  There are a couple nutritional supplements that are recommended on this program as well, that are not at all costly.

We start you off with a 10 day starter pack of food.  This starter pack is a sample of many of the different food choices so you can see what you like and what you don’t.  We have email order forms to make reordering food very easy for you or you just come into the office and shop off the shelves.

This program is all about helping you to lose between 3 to 7 pounds of body fat each week while preserving your muscle.   It’s about supporting the prevention of heart disease, diabetes, insulin resistance and high cholesterol and helps a person obtain that youthful and wonderful feeling that occurs when you hit your ideal weight.

Please let me know if you have more interest and I can send you links for pics of the foods, food menus, as well as, the costs for foods.  We have a special right now where you can save $100.

You can also call the office and talk with Chuck Landrum and he explain more in detail how everything works, (770) 304-1500.

Most people are in love with this program.  They are so pleased to finally get the weight off and gain control of their body fat once and for all.

My Very Best,

Dr. Rob :)

Here is a picture of the American Food Pyramid on a plate.  Notice the huge serving of carbohydrates at the bottom.  If you move up from the bottom, you’ll see more carbohydrates in the form of fruits.  Then more carbs as vegetables.  Then finally we hit some protein and fats.  Spending a lifetime of eating as shown in the above picture will cause your pancreas to release insulin.  Lots of it!  Now, add the occasional ice cream sundae, a couple cookies, mom’s homemade apple pie and we have an insulin catastrophe on our hands and that is exactly what America is dealing with, an insulin catastrophe.

Too much insulin makes you fat.  Yep, that’s right.  Insulin makes you fat.  “How?” do you ask, well, simple.  Insulin is the hormone that gets released by your pancreas that helps lower blood sugar.  Carbohydrates raise your blood sugar so insulin gets release to bring your blood sugar levels down to normal.  Now insulin also causes a chemical reaction to occur called LIPOGENESIS.  Lipogenesis is when your body takes all those carbohydrates you’ve eaten over the years and stores them as belly fat.  Eventually, from eating too many carbs, the levels of insulin build up in the body and you become a fat storing machine.

”Did You Ever See An Alcoholic Get Drunk Off Two Drinks?”

I have had maybe 10 alcoholic beverages in the last 10 years.  Accordingly, if i were to have a drink or two I’d be a little tipsy to say the least, because my body is not used to having alcohol in it.  Now, if a person had about 10 alcoholic drinks a day he might not get tipsy at all by having just one or two drinks.  His body has built a tolerance to or become resistant to the alcohol.  In the same respect, a person who has a lot of insulin in his blood, due to years of carbohydrate consumption, will become tolerant or resistant to insulin.  Just like the alcoholic that needs more and more alcohol to get drunk, you will need more and more insulin to lower your blood sugar……….you are now insulin resitant.  The high levels of insulin will cause you to store more fat and worse, make it very difficult for you to lose.

There is a well-renown French, MD, PhD who worked closely with the French Olympic Athletes and has developed an easy yet extremely effective system to get rid of body fat.  The average women loses 3 to 5 pounds of fat and the average male loses 4 to 7 pounds of fat, all by naturally reducing your insulin levels.  It is easy, safe and highly effective.

For more information please email me at  dr.rob@alternacareinc.com and I will get you the additional information.  It’s a bit too long to place in a blood or a post but I will share it all with you.
